I visited your campground this past weekend. My husband visited last year and advised that it was a nice campsite. My first experience was to phone and ask what time check in time was. The woman who answered was very abrupt and indicated that check-in was not until 2:00. Every other campsite I have ever been to in Ontario and Northern New York (which is probably greater than 40 campsites), the owner and/or employee answering ALWAYS advised that if the site was empty, they would be more than happy for us to come in early. So the response I received, and the tone in which I received it was very shocking. I was then told I would have to pay for an extra night (which I had cancelled more than a month previous). I was attending a conference in Niagara Falls, and at no time would I be able to be at the campsite prior to Thursday. When I heard this, and the tone in which it was spoken to me, I advised the woman that I would not be going at all if that as the case. She said, come ahead 'we'll work it out'. Leaving me to believe that we would not get charged. When we get there, you advise that you still want us to pay for the extra night. Unbelievable. Now it as a matter of principle. I had had your work over the phone that you would not charge us, but when you get us there, after hauling our trailer which I never would have done, you change your mind. Also over the phone, you said our site was empty and we could get on early. Once we got there you asked that we pay a fee to get on early. I have NEVER had a campsite say this before. After sitting and waiting for 2 hours, my husband goes up and asks if we can get on the site and you said no we had to wait another hour!!!! I am taking this story to the better business bureau, to every local papery, to everyone who is willing to listen. I was appalled at the way we were treated.

I also did a bit of research about the no transporting of firewood. This is meant to be international transportation or inter-provincial. Local transportation is permitted. Otherwise, how would people heat their homes???? This is a wonderful source of revenue for you when you sell 8 logs of wood for $8.00|!!!! How to twist a suggestion for your benefit. Pathetic!!!!!!!!!!11

I also heard how you spoke to children purchasing candy in your store. How you spoke to a woman who had purchased wood down the road and you wouldn't let her bring it in. There is NO law about local wood, other than your opportunity to make a buck.

I knew about 50 people camping in your campsite that weekend. All 50 had nothing bad nasty things to say about you. Unfortunately, you will always have business because you own waterfront property. I am making it my personal mission, to warn everyone not to visit your campsite.

It is so much easier to be kind to people, than the effort your family puts into making everyones visit memorable (for all the wrong reasons!).

Reserving the right to charge people for a cancellation with more than 10 days notice is VERY wrong!

Sincerely,

I forgot to mention a few things. When we asked if we could get on our site, you advised that you had to cut the grass. Our friends advised us that the grass had been cut the day before. You are dishonest. I heard that we were not the only ones you tried to charge for a cancellation with weeks of notice.

Your business musn't be going well if you feel you have to be dishonest to make extra money. Our friends had arrived last Saturday 2 hours before checkin, yet they were allowed to get on their site with no extra charge. Do you have different sets of rules for different customers? Sounds like discrimination to me? Do you have a good lawyer?
